About Us

BullyWag, Inc. began as mother and daughter wanting to do more to help change some people's opinion of pit bull-type dogs.  As time progressed, we became disappointed and frustrated with the huge numbers of pit bull-type dogs (or dogs that "look" like pit bull-type dogs) being euthanized in the state of Georgia.  We then decided that our  efforts should be somewhat re-focused to provide a positive look at pit bull-type dogs - promoting and highlighting their outstanding qualities.  (Pit bull is a term often used to identify several breeds including The American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, Miniature and Standard Bull Terriers.)

We do not have an actual sanctuary or shelter  structure at this time, so we are unable to take in owner turn-ins or found dogs.  The dogs that we do have for adoption are either in boarding or in a foster home.  Ideally we would love to be able to take in every bully we come across, but we can only do so much at this time.  We support and participate in dog transport which enables the dogs to travel state-to-state for rescue.

We are committed to saving our beloved canine friends, especially the beautiful bully breeds.  The BullyWag statement "Save a Pit" is simple and to-the-point.  The statement will also be "Save a Pit, Give a Life" when necessary.

History
My first experience with pit bull-type dogs was when my sister brought home baby Renoir.   As soon as we laid eyes on him, we knew that he was a keeper.  I hardly remember those beginning weeks and months when we could carry him around in our arms, but I do remember he was an 80 lb. bundle of love.  My most memorable times with him have been molded into my brain.  I've failed to mention how beautiful he was and how his personality stood out against all of our (human) family members.  I lived under the same roof as Renoir for almost all of his first year of life and got to know him very well.

Pre-Renoir, I had never really thought about pit bulls and didn't really know that much about them.  After spending time with Renoir and educating myself on the bully breeds I now know that I was blessed to have been a part of his life and am thankful for having known him.  He was the inspiration that led us to take on the challenge of helping to change the negative image of pit bull-type dogs.  Pit bull dogs were once seen with respect and were considered upstanding citizens of the community.  Pit bull-type dog owners all over the world strive to regain a positive presence for their faithful and loving companions.
